  • Any institutions or persons who qualify in terms of the Constitution shall be eligible for membership of the Association.

    Categories of membership include:
  • Member:
    Natural person who teaches or does research in an institution of higher education in the field of Public Administration and Management and occupies a position in Public Administration
  • Student member:
    Natural person currently enrolled at a SA institution of higher learning and not in full-time or part-time employment
  • Corporate member:
    A corporate entity, close corporation, trust, association, NGO or CBO, with a SAAPAM membership between 5-10 persons, active in the field of Public Administration and Management
  • Institutional member:
    An institutional entity with a membership to SAAPAM of 11 members of more, active in the field of Public Administration and Management
  • International Member:
    Natural person who is not a South African citizen, who has interest in the study and practice of Public Administration and Management
  • International Corporate Member:
    An international corporate entity, close corporation, trust, association, NGO or CBO, with a SAAPAM membership between 5-10 persons, active in the field of Public Administration and Management
  • International Institutional Member:
    An international institutional entity with a membership to SAAPAM of 11 members of more, active in the field of Public Administration and Management
  • Honorary member:
    Natural person who has, through his/her activities, contributed substantially to the theory and practice of Public Administration and Management and on whom the AGM has bestowed honorary membership, upon recommendation of the Board
Every member shall have the right to attend annual and other general meetings of members of the Association and paid up members shall have the right to vote on issues put before such a meeting.

Every member shall be obliged:
  • Upon admission and subsequently annually before 30 April to pay the membership fees prescribed by the National Board of Directors, and
  • Inform his/ her Chapter promptly of any change of address.
Institutions may become corporate members of SAAPAM on terms and conditions as determined by the National Board of Directors.

Benefits of Membership to SAAPAM include:
  • Subscription to the accredited Journal of Public Administration , published quarterly.
  • Access to an annual conference during which critical issues impacting on the discipline and practice of Public Management and Administration will be discused, analyzed and promoted.
  • Access to the formal communication network of SAAPAM members and ample opportunity for networking and building bonds between practitioners, academics, researchers and other professionals in the discipline of Public Administration and Management.
