South African Association of Public Administration and Management (SAAPAM) Signs Pioneering Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Public Administration Association (IPAA) and Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU)

The South African Association of Public Administration and Management (SAAPAM) is excited to announce the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Public Administration Association (IPAA) and Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) in India. This strategic partnership aims to foster enhanced collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives in the realm of public administration and management between South Africa and India.

The signing ceremony was held in Gandhinagar, India, at the margins of BRICS+ RI COP Workshop held under the theme: “Energy resilience and sustainability in BRICS+ nations-a policy analysis perspective”. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all involved organizations, reflecting the mutual commitment to advancing public administration standards and practices. Executive Director Prof. John Molepo, led the SAAPAM delegation, while IPAA and PDEU were represented by Prof Pardhasaradhi (General Secretary) and Prof Sriram Divi (Head of the Department) respectively.

The key Objectives of the MOU are:

  1. Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate the exchange of research, publications, and best practices between the institutions to enhance the body of knowledge in public administration and management.
  2. Capacity Building: Conduct joint training programs, workshops, and conferences aimed at improving the skill sets and capabilities of public administrators in both countries.
  3. Academic Collaboration: Promote student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research projects, and academic partnerships to enrich educational experiences and scholarly contributions.
  4. Innovation and Technology: Leverage technology and innovative practices to address contemporary challenges in public administration, particularly in energy management and sustainability.

Professor Molepo emphasized, “This partnership is an exciting step forward in our mission to elevate public administration practices. By joining forces with the IPAA and PDEU, we are poised to enhance the capacity of our respective institutions and contribute meaningfully to the global discourse on public governance. “

This agreement will provide students in both countries with invaluable international exposure and networking opportunities. Collaborative initiatives will certainly enrich the academic and practical experiences of all parties involved. This will see our members visiting India annually to participate in various programmes. Additionally, our collaboration with Pandit Deendayal Energy University will enable us to integrate energy studies seamlessly into public administration disciplines.
