| Designation Competencies |
Executive Academic Professional must demonstrate the following competencies: • Contribute to scholarly debates on theories of knowledge and knowledge production in public administration/management. • Develop new methods, techniques, processes, systems, or technologies in innovative ways appropriate to complex contexts. • Apply specialist knowledge critically and creatively to solve complex theoretical and practical problems. • Identify, address, and manage emerging ethical issues, including monitoring and evaluating outcomes of ethical decisions. • Produce substantial, independent, publishable work meeting international standards and contributing significantly to the field. • Demonstrate intellectual independence, research leadership, and research management capability. |
| Working Experience |
More than 10 years’ experience in tertiary education, training, research, or the public sector. At least 10 years in a public administration/management environment involving teaching, research, or related work. More than 10 years in senior/executive management roles, demonstrating leadership and influence. Recognised locally and internationally by peers in the field. Demonstrated ability to present at conferences and publish extensively, including: – More than 10 authored journal papers – More than 10 co-authored papers – Authored and co-authored books in the field |

| Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) |
SAAPAM recognises alternative pathways for demonstrating competence through prior learning and experience. Applicants must submit a Portfolio of Evidence including: • Comprehensive CV • Detailed work experience and job descriptions • List of relevant training and courses attended • Certified copies of qualifications (verified via SAQA) • Proof of professional memberships • Testimonials from employers/supervisors • Evidence of conference presentations and publications (minimum 5 journal papers) Candidates must also attend a panel interview arranged by SAAPAM. |
